The Centenary Of Modernist Literature
Fri, Dec 16

The year 1922, when the experimental works in which Modernism made itself most visible as a movement in literature, Virginia Woolf's novel Jacob's Room, James Joyce's Ulysses, and T.S. Eliot's poem The Waste Land were published, is named the annus mirabilis of Modernism, the year of wonders. Although plenty of studies have alluded to its importance, this historical moment has not been studied in depth yet until the past few years.

The Centenary of Modernist Literature event series aims to create a practice of re-reading and understanding Modernist Literature by bringing together the translators who translated the most essential works of Modernist Literature into Turkish, the writers who made the legacy of this literature live in their own writing experience, the artists inspired by this heritage, and of course, the readers who are the recipients and participants of this century-long journey.
The event series which will be opened at Ka, Space for Visual Culture and Artistic Thinking on December 16 at 19:30, will be hosted at Ka for the following two days.
