This Friday we will talk about "Animation Art and Authentic Production" with Barış Çavuşoğlu. Barış, who works as a freelance animation director at Adult Swim and continues his master's degree in Experimental Animation at the California Institute of the Arts, will share with us his works and production process, including his first solo exhibition, Hit Me Baby One More Time. In addition to his experiences in America on Friday, Barış will also talk about how he developed a singular and loud animation style that combines the surreal with black humor in XR, video art and installation forms.

Barış Çavuşoğlu
Barış Çavuşoğlu b. 1994, is an animator and visual artist. They studied 3D VFX at Escape Studios London and went on to study Computer Science with Games Technology BSc at City, University of London. In 2018 they moved to Berlin and became a part of Random Collective Berlin, an organization focusing on animation and design. They are now living and working in Los Angeles where they are developing a singular and loud animation style of their own fusing grotesque cartooning, and surreal black comedy in the form of XR, video art and installations. They are currently an Experimental Animation MFA candidate at California Institute of the Arts. Between exhibitions and personal projects, they are also working as a freelance animation director for Adult Swim. Their animations have been screened internationally at the likes of Annecy International Animation Film Festival, REDCAT Theatre, OVNi Festival France, Lithuanian International Shorts and Dutch Design Week. In November 2021 they opened a dual presentation at BSMNT Leipzig, Germany with Kid Xanthrax called #SLIPGNOSIS. In June 2022 they had their first solo exhibition ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ at Istanbul Barin Han Gallery, curated by Viable Istanbul.
